Lynn Gabriel Bourgeois

Lynn G. Bourgeois of Garyville, LA, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, just days after his 88th birthday, surrounded by his family. Lynn was born and raised in Garyville, where he also raised a family of his own. Lynn is survived by his loving and devoted wife Delores V. Bourgeois, two loving daughters Katrina Levron (John) of Garyville and Joycelyn Gonzalez (Rodney) of LaPlace and seven grandchildren who adored him: Shawn Levron (Monique), Aimee’ Perret (Jonathan), Gary Levron (Farrah), Kristen Levron (Brandon), Ryan Gonzalez (Abbey), Katherine Ferguson (Jonathan) and Alex Gonzalez. Lynn is also the proud great-grandfather to 15 great-grandchildren: Landon and Lainey Levron, Alicia, Aiden, Andrew and Abigail Perret, Skyler, Sydney and Jax Levron, Wes Gonzalez, Delilah, Audrey and Dax Ferguson and Asher and Hazel Harlow. He is also survived by his brothers, Larry Bourgeois, Sr. of Reserve and Albert Bourgeois (Marietta) of Garyville and sisters-in-law, Annette Vicknair of Gramercy and Mary Agnes Vicknair of Paulina. Lynn was affectionately known as “Pappy” to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews. Lynn was a loving, devoted and genuinely caring man. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to those in need. He was an active parishioner at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Garyville. He worked at Avondale Shipyard for many years before retiring in 2001. He loved fishing, gardening, playing cards, going to the casino and making pecan candy. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Martha Tamplain and Paul Bourgeois, sisters Doris Cambre (Douglas and Charles) and Rita Madere (Antoine Sr.), brothers Warren (Clemence), Hubert (Mary Ann), Nolan “Jimmy” (Betty), Roland (Eunice), sister-in-law Yvonne Bourgeois and brothers-in-law Nicolas Lasseigne, Sr. and Willie Vicknair. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Garyville Fire Department, St. John Police Department, Acadian and the nurses and doctors at St. James Hospital for the care they bestowed on him in his critical time of need. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Garyville, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve, LA. Arrangements entrusted to Millet-Guidry Funeral Home.
