Marion Paul Broussard

Marion Paul Broussard passed away at his residence surrounded by family on Saturday, August 8, 2026. A native of Edgard, he resided in St. John Parish his entire life except for time spent in the U. S. Navy, at the end of World War II, and at LSU while earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was 99 years old. He is survived by seven children; Marianne and her husband Dean Wolfe, Michael and his wife Mary Alice, Steven and his wife Wanda, David and his wife Nancy, Brion and his wife Jenny, Kenneth and his wife Diane, daughter Beth Roussel. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Virgie Vicaro Broussard, son Craig Broussard, infant son Matthew, infant greatgrandchildren Halle and Evan, parents Charles and Julia Broussard, sister Joyce Harville, brother Rev. Hubert Broussard and brother Meryl Broussard of Memphis. Marion began his engineering career at Godchaux Sugars in Reserve and retired from Shell Oil Company in Norco after 31 years of service. A founding member of the LaPlace Recreation and Youth Organization, he actively promoted youth baseball in St. John Parish. In 1972 he was honored for his contributions to LARAYO by being named King Allovus VII. He served on the boards of the St. John Parish Council on Aging, American Red Cross and St. Joan of Arc Catholic School. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2436 in Reserve and was a lifetime member of LaPlace Council No. 5935. In 1994 he was awarded The Order of St. Louis IX Medallion by the Archdiocese of New Orleans in recognition of service and dedication to St. Joan of Are Catholic Church. His family are grateful for the loving care given by Angela Anderson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Monday, August 17, 2026 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th St., LaPlace, LA. Visitation will be held in church from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the Funeral Mass to immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve, LA.
