Matilda "Tillie" A. Catoire

Matilda “Tillie” Catoire, of Reserve, Louisiana, was born in Hester on November 4, 1942, and passed away on August 25, 2026. Though her family’s hearts are heavy with the sorrow of losing her, her life was filled with the love she so freely gave to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Above every role she held in life, Tillie was a mother. It was the role she cherished most. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of her heart. Known warmly as “Grandy,” she loved her family deeply and unconditionally and took tremendous pride in each of them. Her greatest happiness was found in the people she loved and in the life they shared together. At the center of that life was Dorrel, her husband of 63 years and the love of her life. Side by side, they built a marriage rooted in devotion and a family that would become the legacy of their love. From the early years of raising a young family to the adventures they shared later in life, Tillie treasured the beautiful life they built together. Some of her favorite journeys were with Dorrel to Branson and Dollywood, places that became part of the memories they made along the way. A woman of deep and steadfast faith, Tillie loved God and found comfort and strength in her Catholic faith. As a devoted parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church, her faith was not simply something she believed—it was reflected in the way she lived and cared for others. For many years, Tillie served as an executive secretary at East St. John High School, where she was both beloved and respected. She was intelligent, empathetic, and exceptionally organized, with an eye for detail and a belief in doing things the right way. She was also an avid reader, a woman of sharp wit, and lovingly feisty to the very end—a spirit she inherited from her mother and proudly passed on to her children. She will be remembered for her gentle nature, caring soul, and the fierce, unwavering love she gave her family. Though she has left this earthly life, the love of Tillie—wife, mother, Grandy, sister, and friend—will live on in the hearts and lives of all who were blessed to know her. She is survived by her husband, Dorrel; her children, Paula Bradley, David Catoire (Brandi), and Patrick Catoire; her grandchildren Matt Catoire, Gage Catoire, Tristan Bradley, Cierra Bradley, Rain Scott-Catoire, Danae Scott-Catoire, Cambrie Brignac, Chloe Miley, and step-granddaughters Alyssa Braud and Autumn Ashford; six great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Joseph Accardo (Catherine) and Susie Gravois (Bobby). She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Louise Accardo, her sister, Jean Simoneaux, and granddaughter Darby Grace Bradley. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of God and reunited with those who went before her.
