    Margaret Dorothy Meyer Labat

    December 3, 1937 - December 18, 2021

Margaret Dorothy Meyer Labat passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the age of 84. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of LaPlace, LA for over the past 60 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, James “Jimmy” Ray Labat, Sr.; parents, Dorothy M. Jagot Meyer and Theodore J. Meyer, Sr.; 2 sons, James “Whitey”/”Jimmy” R. Labat, Jr. and Richard “Rickey”/”Perch” J. Labat; her brother, Theodore (Teddy) J. Meyer, Jr.; and son-in-law, David Crane. Margaret is survived by her loving children, Rodney D. Labat, Leilani A. Crane, Lisa A. (Allen Jr.) Fabre and Jane L. (Norbert) Weinert; 11 grandchildren, April Labat, Amber Labat, Melissa (Hogan) Norvet, Autumn Fabre, Allen “AJ” (Lacie) Fabre III, Adam (Anna) Fabre, Morgan Fabre (Hunter), Norbert (Maya) Weinert Jr., Nicholas Weinert, Nathaniel (Nichole) Weinert, and Natalie Weinert; 8 great grandchildren, Reanna Coleman, Mia Coleman, Faith Reid, Caleb Fabre, Merryn Fabre, Olive Norvet, Naxten Weinert and River Fabre; brother, Frederick (Janis) Meyer; sister-in-law, Karen Meyer; and brother-in-law, Benny Labat. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Margaret was a giving person. As a young adult she would volunteer as a candy striper at the old Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She loved to swing and watching the birds from her front porch, listing to music on the radio (trying to win), and taking care of her Christmas cactus. We know she enjoyed her life from all her stories she told us of the past and always looked forward to what was coming up next. She was a supportive and a devoted person to her family and friends. She may have been what you call a homebody but Loved being the host for family events big or small. She loved to bake, so as a birthday gift she would bake us our very own special cake. She has put a big hole in our lives and will be greatly missed, but know she is at home now with our dad, 2 brothers and the rest of her loved ones she greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Memorial Mass at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. than an Inurnment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve, LA. Arrangements by Millet-Guidry Funeral Home.
