Thomas Edward "Ed" Toole

Thomas Edward “Ed” Toole went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the age of 101. He was a native of Millen, GA and a resident of LaPlace, LA for more than 40 years. Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Raleigh Naval Ship during World War II and later in the U.S. Army Reserves. Following his military service, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Georgia. He became a successful businessman for many years with General Motors and later earned a second Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of South Florida. Restless during retirement, he launched a successful commercial landscaping business with his son called T&T Enterprises. Edward had many passions and pursuits including gardening, golf, football, music, woodworking and was a perpetual learner. He kept a plentiful garden of various flowers, vegetables, trees and exotic blooms. He played three instruments (piano, guitar and violin) and spent many years bringing his baritone voice to his church choir. He was an avid sports fan, specifically football, and faithfully rooted for the University of Georgia Bulldogs each Saturday in the fall. When not in the garden, he could be found on the golf course practicing his swing, in his workshop making gorgeous wooden bowls for loved ones or spending time with his cherished family. Edward was the beloved husband of the late Bobbie Jean Toole for more than 62 years. He was the loving father of Nancy T. Rome, Debbie T. Cassard (Dennis) and the late Thomas L. Toole. He was the dear grandfather of Holly C. Schultz (Kenneth), step-grandfather of Joshua Lawrence and the great-grandfather of Gavin Alexander Thomas Schultz. He was the son of the late Lee L. Toole and Lena L. Toole and brother of the late Edward Toole, Franklin Toole, Ralph Toole, Carroll Toole and Catherine Lane. He also cherished his relationship with his former daughter-in-law Karen F. Toole. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Hwy., La Place on Friday, August 21, 2026. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service to immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
